We exist to help you take control of your health. At TruMove we are movement specialists for musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), finding the source of your pain and bringing relief through movement analysis treatments and services.
We provide natural healthcare treatments to help individuals take control of their movement-related pain and/or limitations.
If you are injured, we give you the best opportunity to heal.
If you want to take control of your health and perform at your best but insurance has failed you, we provide affordable and effective ways to manage and prevent your aches and pains.
If you are a team leader or coach and want to make sure your team can perform at their best and minimize the pain, time, cost and frustration of injuries we are here to help your team take control.
If you own a business or oversee a company’s healthcare needs and are frustrated with the significant amount of money and productivity you lose each year on healthcare, we have solutions for you.
At TruMove, we understand that you don’t want life to slow you down—you want to feel empowered and prepared for anything. Likely, you prefer a simple way to stay active and ideally prevent future injuries. Unfortunately, our current healthcare system is only focused on recovery rather than prevention. It shouldn’t be so difficult to find the guidance that you need.
Simply put, it is our mission to provide Better Health Through Motion to as many people as possible.

We believe that our best chance at success is through the success of the team. As owners, we want what is best for the team and will do everything in our power to help the team achieve its vision.
We are not afraid to be the first, to lead the way, to be bold. We do not settle on mediocrity or conformity. Our desire to create a MOVEMENT movement propels us to be more, to do more and to try new ways. We act with a sense of urgency, but we are patient with the results.
We focus on continued improvement so that we can be the best for ourselves and our clients today, tomorrow and for years to come. We crave knowledge and resources so that we can give our best to every person who comes through our doors. We are always focused on moving forward and never satisfied with standing still.

It was only his junior year in high school when Drew decided his life passion was to start his own physical therapy clinic. “I always knew exactly what I wanted to do,” he said. This intuition was confirmed after major knee and shoulder surgeries; his experience as a physical therapy patient launched his drive to build a new, innovative physical therapy clinic.
His experience as an athlete fuels his practice as a physical therapist. Drew swam competitively from age six to 26. Drew graduated high school as a first team All-American swimmer and was recruited as a member of the University of Kansas swim team. During his tenure at KU, he achieved many accolades, including first team all-Big 12, University school record holder and qualifier for the 2000 Olympic Trial. Following his competitive career, he coached for the Jayhawk Swim Team, Air Force Academy Club Team and Blue Valley North High School swim team.
As an athlete, “I’ve never been a Michael Phelps,” Drew says. “I’ve never been the most talented or the best physically in the pool. But I came to realize early, how to learn and grow is by watching the best, studying how they do it and being the best technical swimmer possible. That, with my desire to see just how far I could push myself, helped me to be successful in the pool.”
Drew attended Creighton University and graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2005. He has practiced as a licensed Physical Therapist in Kansas City since 2005, fulfilling his lifelong dream in 2007 when he opened Sport + Spine (now TruMove). Today, he combines his athletic experience with his physical therapy knowledge. “I’ve always been able to see movement well,” Drew says, “and I’ve always been focused on motion and function.”
Since then, he has devoted his time to both the development of TruMove and his professional education. Immediately following school, he received certification as a spine specialist though the McKenzie Institute. He also became a movement specialist though the Gray Institute, and was one of Kansas City’s first Nike Golf Performance Specialists. In 2014, Drew and fellow therapist Kim Erisman became the first physical therapists in Kansas City to receive their Dry Needling Certification. Together, Kim and Drew were the driving force to bring Dry Needling to all therapists and to the people of Kansas.
Drew married Emily in 2005, and they have two daughters, Ella Grace and Ivy Lee. Outside TruMove, Drew enjoys spending time on their new family farm in Louisburg, KS and also enjoys swimming, mountain biking and golfing.

Josh grew up playing many sports including baseball, football, and basketball. In middle school and high school his focus was on basketball. And although he knew he wouldn’t play in college, he knew he still wanted to be around sports. “I thought athletic training was cool, and my goal in life was to tape Michael Jordan’s ankle.” He may not have been able to tape Mike’s ankle, but he did have the opportunity to intern with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during their training camps two years in a row.
Working as a tech in an outpatient clinic inspired him to attend PT school at Wichita State, and he graduated in 2001. He has enjoyed working with athletes of all ages, from middle schoolers to his oldest patient at 90 years old.
In 2006, he was introduced to the Gray Institute by a co-worker, which changed the way he thought about movement and his approach to treating patients forever. In 2019 he graduated from the GIFT fellowship program.
Josh says, “What we do as movement professionals is so much fun!” And, “Helping people get out of pain and back to the activities they love is so rewarding.”
Josh enjoys spending time with his family—his wife Megan and daughter Kayla. He enjoys working out, running, and some occasional hoops. He has participated in many running events in and around Kansas City, as well as completing the Louisville marathon in 2017.

Kelly has spent nearly 19 years in her career as a physical therapist. She was driven early on in sports and quickly realized that with sports, comes injuries. It was during these moments that Kelly realized that a career in physical therapy was for her.
Kelly received her undergraduate degree in Biology while playing basketball at Pittsburg State. A couple of season ending injuries allowed her to enjoy basketball as a coach on the sidelines. She gained a ton of perspective and learned how to coach and motivate while rehabilitating from these injuries. This also furthered her desire to become a physical therapist.
She then went on to Wichita State where she received her Masters in Physical Therapy. During these years, she was introduced to the sport of Triathlon and fell in love with the training and the diversity. “I found that athletes come in all shapes and sizes, all levels of motivation, many different backgrounds and I was hooked. This collection of people is so welcoming and endearing.”
Kelly has been able to use her history as a patient, her training with runners and triathletes to further understand her place as a physical therapist. “I believe there is a bit of an athlete in all of us, even it it’s just to get off the couch and walk to the fridge without pain. I feel that I understand movement and have the ability to motivate patients to achieve their goals.” She has a deep understanding of movement and training and can assess patient needs. She also has extensive training in manual therapy, which enables her to address any underlying tissue or joint restrictions that contribute to pain.
At this point in her life, she loves doting on her 2 young daughters and looks forward to coaching them in whatever activity they choose. She is married and lives in Lee’s Summit where she runs, rides her bike and swims when the weather permits. She is looking forward to continuing her growth as a PT with further education and training.

Luke grew up in the area, attended Mid-America Nazarene University during undergrad, and finished up his schooling at the University of Kansas Medical Center, becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy. He played many sports growing up including a whole lot of club soccer, which led to playing 4 years of college soccer. “Playing college soccer was always a huge goal of mine, however injuries kept me off the field way more than I would have liked. A passion of mine now is movement pattern analysis and injury prevention within physical therapy to keep others from missing out on doing what they love.” Luke loves working with people of all backgrounds, ages, and activity levels. He has experience with young patients, old patients, recreational athletes, professional athletes, and anyone in between. He also has experience in injury prevention, injury rehabilitation, and performance physical therapy, and looks forward to continuing to work in all of these areas.
Outside the clinic, Luke and his wife are both very competitive and love doing anything that involves competition. He continues to enjoy playing soccer, disc golf, pickup basketball, hiking, working out, and watching sports. Luke is a learner and looks forward to continuing to learn throughout his career in order to provide the best possible treatment for his patients.

Megan serves TruMove in all things administrative as the Administrative Director, overseeing the clinic’s office staff and finances. “I also work alongside our PT Director, Kim Erisman, to keep Drew in line. He’d be lost without us,” she laughs. She studied public finance at Indiana University, and then honed her finance ability at a trust company in Kansas City upon graduation. Megan lives in Overland Park with her husband, three children, and two dogs. Originally from Indiana, Megan is a Hoosier at heart; she loves visiting family and attending IU games. When she isn’t busy wiping muddy paws or chasing around her busy toddlers, she also enjoys running the KC trails with a running buddy and photography. I am so happy I found TruMove! I have been several places and finally feel like I am on the right track to recovery. I am pretty sure Drew is known as ‘the hip whisperer’ to all his PAO patients. He listens to me, assesses my problems, and personalizes treatments/workouts that are helping me heal and get back to my regular active lifestyle.
Aleksandar Tasic, 2016 IRONMAN Arizona finisher
I have made significant progress in reducing pain levels and increasing strength and running activity levels. As soon as my body can absorb the necessary endurance training, I will resume competition full-on, chasing the IRONMAN Hawaii dream.
Brad Wells Gold Medal Champion 2017 US Masters Swimming Nationals
I was extremely pleased with the results at Nationals and I have no doubt the treatment that I received at TruMove played a huge role, especially the Dry Needling. I feel great! I am training harder and more consistently than ever.
Caitlin Ballard 2016 IRONMAN Arizona finisher
I am certain that without the assistance of TruMove, I would still be experiencing daily/nightly back pain. They provided a focused plan of exercises and stretches that I continue daily. They altered treatment methods as needed and I always felt that my concerns were valid and heard. I can now push myself harder during each workout and my sleeping habits have improved tremendously.
Karen Washburn
Whenever I have an issue with any part of my spine or related muscles and ligaments, I go to TruMove first. They are honest about giving you options and suggesting treatments. I have had Dry Needling done in my shoulder, lower spine, and glute – all with great success.
Katie Frutiger
Kim is my PT and I cannot sing her praises enough. She opened my eyes to Dry Needling which has worked wonders on knots that no other treatment could resolve. TruMove is a wonderful atmosphere, too. The staff is so friendly, and they genuinely care about their patients.
Kelly O’Connor
All of my chronic issues need to be dealt with on a regular basis. I have to keep things moving or they get worse. Insurance only takes you so far and then releases you, but with TruMove’s Health Membership, problems are less likely to become huge issues because they are being addressed regularly.

I thought I was going to have to scratch my plans to run the 2016 Baltimore Marathon. After several Dry Needling sessions, I was running again. Not only did I cross the finish line in Baltimore, but I also achieved my goal of finishing healthy and under 4 hours. I highly recommend Dry Needling, not only for injury recovery, but also prevention.
Joy Edwinson Physical Therapy Assistant at a local clinic
For 20 years I was dealing with neck and shoulder pain, but Dry Needling has released me from it. The number of headaches I experience is down significantly, my overall energy is up, and the decrease in pain allows me to better treat my patients. I recommend it to all of my friends.
Kathleen Ballard
I needed and wanted PT, but something more movement-based, something other than just stretching. TruMove was recommended. The strengthening exercises had the biggest impact on my recovery. I gained confidence that I could engage in various exercise activities. I am now a regular gym rat!
Kristen Chavez
I noticed an incredible improvement with Dry Needling and the results were happening so much faster than with regular PT and stretching. When I started, I could barely walk or sit down. Now I’m working out daily. There are no limits on what I can do. It’s wonderful!
Brian Schober
Three weeks out from high school baseball tryouts my freshman son was having some pretty bad back pain that had been lingering for around a month. We were referred to Josh at TruMove and what he was able to do was pretty amazing. Josh put together a plan and my son did a good job with his homework. Unbelievably enough, he was very close to 100% by the first day of tryouts. Highly recommend!
