MSDs are commonly referred to as Cumulative Trauma Disorders (CTDs), Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs) They include Sports, Orthopedic, Ergonomic, Biomechanical or Functional Injuries, & age related degenerative conditions. Most often, they are simply referred to as aches, pains, strains, sprains, over-exertion, over-use pulled-muscles, trigger points, spasms, slipped or bulging discs, misalignments, or vaguely diagnosed symptomatically as anatomical-pain (back, neck, knee, etc.). MSDs are more functional than medical by nature.

MSDs cause pain & impair activity, posture, mobility, stability, comfort, confidence & safety. They can also lead to complications or further injury. MSDs can occur in any part of the body & may involve bones, joints, discs, cartilage, muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, & nerves causing pain, swelling, discoloration, inflammation, & physical impairment.

While most MSDs need not cause worry, they must be taken seriously since they can become persistent, recurrent or chronic & lead to permanent impairment or even disability if not properly managed.
